Mack Gingles’s paintings and drawings inhabit a place where time slows and uncertainty lingers.

In the Wading for You series, figures pause, wander, and endure without direction. Beckett’s line, “You must go on. I can’t go on. I’ll go on,” moves through the work as something felt rather than told, an internal pressure that persists without resolution. The images hold that pressure open, allowing doubt, persistence, and quiet resolve to exist together.

Gingles has exhibited internationally, with work appearing at the Museum of Modern Fine Arts in Minsk, Belarus; the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, Macedonia; the Cvijeta Zuzorić in Belgrade, Serbia; the Czong Institute for Contemporary Art Museum in Gimpo-si, South Korea; and Pärnu, Estonia. His work was selected for the London Celeste Prize and featured in New American Paintings. His most recent solo exhibition, By a Thread, was presented at the University of Kentucky's Bolivar Gallery. He maintains a painting studio in Robinson, Texas, and is Professor of Art at Baylor University.
