The Blood Work series is a record of my reconciliation with its parts: description based on family photographs, selective memory, and my concerns for abstraction. I was interested in the nuance of gesture as it conveys meaning and evokes memory response. Though non-specific, the space surrounding the figures was emptied conspicuously to accentuate the subjects in isolation. By adumbrating one reality and effacing another I attempted to transform the mundane into what I perceived as the uncanny.
